Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I am giving you a recap of my delicious dinner at MKT BAR and tour of Phoenicia's Specialty Foods located downtown. Thank you to Zulu Creative for the invitation!

Now on Wednesday's from 7-10 pm MKT BAR hosts an event called Vinyl & Vino that host different Houstonian DJ's. Also, there are specials for $5 select wine by the glass and $9 charcuterie & cheese boards like this one above! These boards feature Armenian meats and cheeses that are so delicious.

Also on Tuesdays & Thursday  from 2-10 pm there is Steak Night that MKT BAR has been voted "Best Steak Night" by the Houston Press. Most importantly, for all the weekend brunch fans out there, MKT BAR has brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm. I'm eyeing their newest entree the Hill Country Fried Chicken & Waffles with Moroccan-spiced maple syrup.

We were greeted with these super cute and summery cocktail from their new summer menu named the Melon Cooler. This cocktail features prosecco and house-infused watermelon syrup. Later we tried the Killa Kafe, a port and express topped with fresh whipped cream. I am not much of a port fan but it looked super cute!

I was so excited to spend the evening with some of my favorite Houston Bloggers, Nicole from Lipstick & Brunch, Shelbi from Its All Chic to Me, and Roselyn from the Style_Lynn Kind. They are the sweetest and funnest gals!

During our food tour of Phoenicia's Specialty Foods, we were able to taste some more the summer menu items. These were sample sized Braised Lamb Tacos. In this entree you get two tacos of shredded mole-braised lamb in tanner flatbread with fresh fennel, cucumber and orange salsa, topped with a yogurt-mint sauce. This was my personal favorite of the evening!

Another thing we tried was this beet and goat cheese appetizer that was super savory and decadent. Anything with goat cheese and I'm in!

After the store tour we sat for dinner and were served with the Splish-Splash cocktail. What's interesting about this drink is that it features dill-infused agave nectar, pinot grigio and strained cucumber with bitters. If you like pickle juice of the flavor of it, you must try this cocktail!

The main course of our dinner was this amazing spread of roasted chicken with olives and lemon served with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. We were also brought rooted brussel sprouts with pita crunch topping. The chicken was so tender and flavorful I definitely reccommend it!

All of us agreed that the the Warm Apple Baklava was the star of the show! Served in a skillet, the baklava with flaky film layers, baked apples, cinnamon and walnuts with a scoop of snickerdoodle gelato. We also tried Gigi's Banana Pudding which is a homemade recipe to the family. It was super delicious!

The Tcholakian family were such gracious hosts and sent all of us home with a goodie bag filled with treats from Phoenicia Specialty Foods. I especially loved the Caprice Dark Chocolate wafer rolls and the Dark Chocolate Salted Cashews! The spices are actually made in house and are named after the mother and father of Ann Marie, our hostess. I absolutely loved learning about the Armenian heritage and culture behind Phoenicia's Specialty Foods and how its influences are found in aspects all around the store and in the MKT BAR.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you are in Houston or traveling to Houston, Phoenicia's Specialty Foods and MKT BAR are a must. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to browse around!
